he most central aspect of the macrobiotic approach to health is cooking and food, followed by excercise and lifestyle. Every single day we make choices about the types of food we want to eat, how we want to cook it, the quantity of food we eat, and the quality of the produce and products we use. In this way our daily food has the power to heal us, or to make us sick. It can maintain our health or accelerate its decline.
We are keenly aware of the great importance of food, and so our resident macrobiotic chefs carefully prepare each meal with the highest quality ingredients and utmost care. As learning how the foods you prepare at home can assist your healing process, you will enjoy the same healing dishes during mealtimes. Many of our participants notice remarkable changes in their energy and a great appreciation for the subtle and refined tastes of macrobiotic cooking.
Edward Esko, one of our previous teachers, wrote:
"Food is our best medicine. Balancing the energy of food provides the foundation for achieving good health. Without the foundation of daily diet, our approach is symptomatic and limited. Understanding food as energy lies at the heart of macrobiotic healing."
