I had a back injury which made me immobile. After a year and half of pain medication I said no more and stopped all of it. I opted for a surgery that resulted in another 6 months where I couldn’t lift. During this time I gained 25 lbs. I came to a Kushi Institute program in September of 2012, with the intention of simply getting healthier and stronger – not to lose weight – and weight loss was a great ‘bonus’. In the 9 months since starting macrobiotics I have lost 25 lbs, I am feeling stronger and healthier than I have in a very long time. I don’t feel restricted or limited at all in what I eat. And I love the food!!
